Hello and welcome to AshlyCrochet Studio!
My name is Ashly, and I love crochet. It has been a special part of my life since I was a little girl.
Today, I want to share my story and help you enjoy learning crochet.
How My Crochet Journey Began
I was about 12 or 13 years old when I first became interested in crochet.
I had an aunt who was around 70 years old. She made beautiful sweaters, caps, and many other things for everyone.
I loved watching her work.
Whenever she went away, I would pick up her crochet hook and yarn and try to make something myself.
But I always made a mess!
My stitches went wrong, and I could not make anything properly.
Still, I loved crochet and kept trying.
Learning My First Crochet Stitches
I already knew how to sew clothes, design dresses, and do embroidery, but I did not know crochet.
One day, I saw a girl who lived next door making a beautiful design with double crochet and picot stitches.
I asked her to teach me.
She showed me how to make those stitches, and I started practising again and again.
Slowly, I began to learn.
A Day I Will Never Forget
One day, I was crocheting with my hook in my right hand and yarn in my left hand.
I do not know how it happened, but the hook went into the finger next to my thumb.
It was very painful.
I gathered my courage and pulled it out.
But here is the surprising part!
That same evening, I picked up my crochet hook and started practising again.
I loved crochet too much to stop.
My First Crochet Project
After lots of practice, I finally made my first crochet project.
It was a red rose!
I was so happy when I finished it.
After that, I started making picot stitches and pom-pom decorations for my mother’s dresses, suits, and dupattas.
Little by little, I learned to make more beautiful things.
Making Crochet Items for My Children
As time passed, I started making sweaters, caps, bags, shoes, and other handmade things for my children.
Some projects were easy, while others were difficult.
I made mistakes and sometimes had to start again.
But every project helped me learn something new.
Why I Started AshlyCrochet Studio
I started AshlyCrochet Studio because I want to help people learn crochet.
When I was a beginner, I made many mistakes. Now, I want to share what I have learned so you can avoid those same mistakes.
On my website, you can explore beginner tutorials, crochet stitches, yarn guides, free patterns, and creative ideas.
I also share my original crochet patterns through my Etsy shop.
My goal is to make crochet simple and enjoyable for everyone.
My YouTube Journey
I also started a YouTube channel called AshlyCrochet Studio.
I wanted to make helpful videos so people could learn crochet step by step.
Because of my busy life, I have not been able to give my channel as much time as I would like.
But I still love sharing what I know.
My Message to You
If you are learning crochet, please remember one thing.
Never give up!
Your first stitches may look messy. You may have to start again many times.
That is okay.
I made mistakes too.
I started with messy stitches and finally made my first red rose.
If you decide to learn something and keep trying, no one can stop you.
